HISTORY OF THE CLUB

In 2018 the NNSLSC Mundo Sessions was launched as a pilot scheme to establish the need and community support for a Surf Lifesaving Club in Mundesley.

We were able to recruit several skilled volunteers to assist in the delivery of the beach sessions under the guidance of the SLSGB and Level 1 & 2 Coaches from NNSLSC.

This scheme proved to be successful and showed a need for a Club in Mundesley and in February 2019 we received confirmation of our Charity status by The Charities Commission and Mundesley Surf Lifesaving Club was borne.

Since then we have been delivering Coaching and Training to all levels, entered multiple competitions and have successfully created a community covering a wide age range.

AIMS

Surf Lifesaving aims to:

Saves Lives:

Through teaching participants about open water safety
Giving participants the knowledge and skills to assess conditions of open water
Giving participants the ability to recognise someone in danger, and someone who may be about to get themselves in danger
Teaches participants the skills to carry out a rescue using a variety of specialist equipment, from rescue tubes, fins, rescue boards, inshore rescue boats, jet skis
Teaches first aid

Encourage sport:

Surf Lifesaving sport is key to the organisations aims. All the above skills are taught using fun competitive games for children leading into competing against each other and other clubs at a local, regional, national and international level.
There are so many different disciplines, some of which are very individual, such as open water swimming, running, paddle boarding but which can all turn into teamwork required activities needing high levels of communication
