Last Saturday we celebrated the end of our season with the annual quiz and awards night, as you can see it was a packed house. The quiz masters' designed an all-age quiz, which made it beneficial to have a multi-generation team. As well as the traditional questions and picture round, there were physical challenges between each round involving paper aeroplanes, tights and ping pong balls!

Mid quiz the Awards were presented to each age group, as a Club we feel that it is important to recognise individuals for their contribution, in whatever form, to the Club over the season. The evening then ended with a fantastic auction, conducted by our very own Auctioneer Jen Tupper, with a selection of lots donated by local businesses and members of the Club. All in all the evening raised an amazing total of £1650, which is essential money towards the day to day running of the club.

Special thanks go to all involved in organising and running the event, all the families that attended the evening and everyone who donated a raffle prize or auction prize.

2nd & 3rd of September saw the culmination of all our Clubbies hard work over the season when a group of 40+ members headed to Lowestoft South Beach to compete in the Eastern Regional Competition against 3 other Clubs North Norfolk SLSC, Brighton SLSC and Waveney SLSC who were the hosts.

It was a perfect weekend of weather and sea conditions, which meant for a fantastic weekend of racing.

The nippers 7-8, 9-10 & 11-13 competed for medals in all events and as a Team gained 3rd place, there were so many medals and achievements that it would be unfair to single anyone out but as Coaches it’s wonderful to see the development of these children, not only in skill but in confidence too. All those coaching hours putting them through their paces has paid dividends for them as individuals and also as a Team, cheering each other on and showing respect to other competitors, you make us very proud.

Moving onto the Youth, Open & Masters, they collectively also gained 2nd place in the rankings which gave us, as a Club 2nd place overall for 2023. This in itself is an amazing achievement for our growing Club. I won’t name names again but you will see from the montage of photos who did well 😁

A big thanks needs to go to the Event organisers, hosts Waveney Surf Life Saving Club, our Team Managers, the Competitors themselves, families and all our Supporters, you helped make our weekend possible and one that will be treasured.

Also a shout out to North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club, Waveney Surf Life Saving Club and Brighton Surf Life Saving Club our fellow competitors and also Surf Life Saving GB for making the epic journey.

Credit must go to Nadine Gray for the amazing photos of which I've had to sift through to pick out a selection from the 400 plus she took. Big thanks Nadine

Part of our training is getting them used to a game called flags which is included in the Regional Competition, that we take part in at the beginning of September each year. Its fast and furious and the kids love it.

Nippers rocking their new Rash Vests which were kindly donated by SALTROCK

SALTROCK was founded by two brothers who were travelling the world looking for surf. They ended up making their home in Cornwall but when funds ran low they put their artistic talents to good use. Screen printing surf inspired designs onto T Shirts and selling them from the back of their Austin Allegro. The brand SALTROCK was born and named after their favourite surf break back home in South Africa.

Their designs took off as so distinctive and original, gaining a core of fiercely loyal followers, that they found it hard to keep up with demand.

Over 30 years later technology has changed but SALTROCK is still true to the unique designs, functionality and quality.

As a club we are grateful for their support of our young people.

You can find their new Store on Back of the Inns in Norwich.
